Cheer Up, Emo Kid is a webcomic centered around life, love, and loss; whose mission is to bring to light the rarely acknowledged humor found in the most terrible of situations — be it heartbreak, depression, social awkwardkness, loneliness, or anything in between — and try to make you laugh when it’s the last thing in the world you feel like doing.

Cheer Up, Emo Kid follows the life of Zeke, a hopeless romantic who gets his heart broken and starts to see the world in a different light. The eternal cynic, Frank, serves as the devil in Zeke’s ear, slowly pushing him deeper and deeper into a state of total disenchantment with the world and everyone in it.

Zeke still has hope. An dwindling, tired, burnt-out hope — but a hope that persists nonetheless.

Enzo has been an on-again, off-again wannabe webcomic artist since he was fifteen, with his most unremarkable work being the defunct
No Spring Chicken series about life at a third-culture high school.

Cheer Up, Emo Kid began as a series of illustrations — heavily inspired by "boobookittyfuck " Philip Dearest’s bobble-heads drawings — which then evolved into a serialized strip that served as an emotional outlet. Nowadays, Enzo likens the strip to a kind of visual PSA regarding life and relationships and how not to handle them.

In addition to the visual likeness to boobookittyfuck’s work, the strip also draws visual and literary inspiration from the likes of Scott Kurtz of PvP , South Park, Calvin & Hobbes, Peanuts, Tatsuya Ishida’s Sinfest , Don Hertzfeldt of Rejected , Penny-Arcade , Andrew Hussie of MSPaint Adventures , Michael Firman’s Moe , Family Guy (the first three seasons only), Nate Piekos of Atland , Stephanie D. Lostimolo’s Schoolbooks & Brimstone, and Nicholas Gurewitch’s PBF .

Enzo is a 24-year-old professional web developer & designer. He is originally from Quezon City, Philippines but has lived in Hong Kong, Taiwan, California and Boston. He currently lives with an overweight cat in
Vancouver, Canada.
